The inaugural Feminist Writers Festival took place over three amazing days, and brought together feminist writers and readers to connect and strengthen the diverse writing communities that exist around Australia. Hosted in partnership with the Melbourne Writers Festival, the 2016 festival comprised a sold out networking day on Friday 26 August at the Queen Victoria Women’s Centre, and five (packed out) public events, co-hosted by the Melbourne Writers Festival, on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 August at Federation Square and Footscray Community Arts Centre.
The Feminist Writers Festival sought to connect and strengthen the diverse writing communities that exist around Australia, and to expand the themes and voices around feminism and women’s writing by offering a space for critical engagement and practical support for all feminist writers and readers.
We would like to thank our amazing volunteers, speakers, supporters, sponsors, partners, steering committee and attendees for making our inaugural festival such a success. We look forward to working with you again in the future.

The Feminist Writers Festival is proud to have partnered with the Melbourne Writers Festival and thanks the MWF for its support.
The Feminist Writers Festival would like to officially recognise the Queen Victoria Women’s Centre for its sponsorship of our inaugural event. The QVWC generously provided us with the venue for our networking day on Friday 26 August 2016.
